The evil eye is a symbol believed to provide protection against malevolent glares and bring good luck, and is traditionally a symbol believed to ward of negative energy. The ashtray is made of ceramic and features a hand painted eye design, I use as a cone incense holder since I don't smoke. The jar is also ceramic, and features hand painted evil eyes.
